This auction is for the Premium KK4HXJ rE-Cap kit for Realistic DX-120 Radio/Communications Receivers This version of the kit includes 6 transistors including a NOS 2SD72 – see details below I offer these kits to simplify the process of obtaining the necessary components to do a DIY capacitor replacement Premium Kits include High Quality Panasonic FC Series Capacitors (2.2-100uF values are 50v 220-2200uF values are 25v) (all values except 1uF which are Nichicon Brand PS Series) These are simply the Highest Quality Capacitors available anywhere If you are looking at this auction, you likely realize that Electrolytic capacitors have a finite life, most Consumer Grade electrolytics including modern units have engineered lives of 1000-5000 hours at which point they begin to fail, which includes changing values, increased electrical leakage, increased ESR or outright failure such as opening up or shorts, many times these failures are cummulative and result in the gradual loss of performance. This upgrade will improve the function and reliability of these fine radios and extend their useful Life. Faulty capacitors are the cause of a significant amount of problems with electronic equipment and I have repaired hundreds of units in which the only fault was one or 2 defective Electrolytic capacitors. Replacing all out of spec capacitors is recommended and often restores the equipment to like new performance. Failure to replace them can result in failure/stress to other components such as transformers, transistors and diodes, many of which are hard to replace due to lack of suitable components. Recapping is a good investment and an immensely satisfying project. Work slow, have fun and prepare to be impressed with your work. Service manuals for this radio are readily available online, I will email you a link upon request if you cannot locate a manual on your own. This auction includes the following items: 1) A complete set of capacitors which will cover both versions of the radio Early Version is SN#7211 and below Later Version is SN#’s above 7211 Both versions of radio are covered in commonly seen service manual 1 x 1uF 50v 1 x 3.3uF 50v 1 x 4.7uF 35v 1 x 10uF 25v 2 x 33uF 16v 3 x 47uF 16v 2 x 220uF 16v 1 x 470uF 16v 1 x 2200uF 25v 13 Total Capacitors – only 12 are used in each version radio 2) (1) 2SK19 Transistor. This is a replacement for Q1 & Q2 3) (1) 2SC372 Transistor. This is a replacement for Q3, Q4 & Q5 4) (3) 2SC373 Transistors. Replacements for Q6 & Q7 5) and (1) 2SD72 Transistor. Replacement for Q8 or Q9 – This is a NOS Vintage Sanyo Germanium “Green” Fuzz Transistor w/Red Dot – these are very rare and there is no “Modern” substitute – the “street price” has recently soared to over $10 each due as the supply of this component has “dried up” – I cannot replace them for what I am selling them for in this kit.
