Scarce Rare Original Rare British Pattern 1796 Heavy Cavalry Trooper’s Sword by DAWES, Birmingham Click images to enlarge Description Up for Consideration is a Rare Original Rare British Pattern 1796 Light Cavalry Trooper’s Sword by DAWES, Birmingham c1796-1810 Rare Original Rare British Pattern 1796 Light Cavalry Trooper’s Sword by DAWES, Birmingham, c.1812 In Original issue format with Fullered Hatchet-point single edged blade struck on the right side with a crowned 2 inspection mark and signed “DWAES BIRM,M” on back edge, Regulation Iron Hilt with Langets, missing leather cover on wooden grip. 33¾IN. Blade. / 38 in. Total. The blade is evenly toned Gray with very light pitting. The steel hilt shows a dusky matching gray patina across the length of the sword. Aside from the patina the hilt shows few if any handling marks or blemishes and the wood grip and hilt rates very good plus to excellent overall. Nice and Tight. No Scabbard A Fine Example of this Model 1796 Heavy Cavalry Sword and a very Rare an Exceptional Addition to Any Sword or Military Collection.
