Once again, Dan Gurney and Bob Bondurant were at the wheel as they had been during the historic winning effort at Le Mans. California’s golden son, Dan Gurney, set the fastest GT qualifying time during that race. Unfortunately, a broken tail shaft on the transmission put the car out of the race during the 2nd hour. At Reims, chassis CSX 2299 had the unique distinction of carrying the famous Dan Gurney for President stickers on the rear fenders of the car. The only time that this ever happened! The candidacy was initiated and supported by the ever popular “Car and Driver magazine. Superbly finished in the 1964 official colors of the Shelby American team, viking blue metallic with thin white stripes. A very rare collectible for the true Shelby American Racing fan.
