This is the best opportunity you will ever have for 7C5 matched tubes. These are exactly 6v6gt tubes with a different Loctal base. Search ” 7c5 to 6v6 ” and you’ll find the adapters for $10 each. Put the 7c5 in the adapter and your good to go. I was curious and bought a few plus adapters and tried them in my 1956 fender tweed deluxe and blackface Princeton reverb and quickly went about buying about 100 more as they sound great. No matter what they are branded, they all appear to be Sylvania 6v6 innards. To my ears (and other tube gurus) Sylvania 6v6gt’s have awesome midrange creamy breakup when they are pushed. 95% of guitar players should love these tubes. Guitar players that pretty much stay in the loud and clean zone might prefer RCA 6v6gt/gta tubes as they reproduce the bottom end better but I found the midrange kind of nasally sounding. I use to pair up 1 rca 6v6gta and 1 Sylvania 6v6gta with great results. I double matched these by GM (mutual conductance, an indirect measurement formula/average of 2 measurements) with my now gone Heath TT1 tester (one of the best high voltage testers) and my bias meter which measures the current draw under test….One word about tube testers is that they only get you in the ballpark as guitar amps use higher voltages. The current draw test gets you at least closer….. A word about “perfect matching”…It’s a bit overhyped and not as important as some people say. Some boutique amp builders are even adding a “mismatch” control on their amps to intentionally mismatch the output tubes for more breakup with less volume. If tubes are “way off” in matching, it will sound great overdriven but the volume will be much lower and one tube will draw way too much current, have a very short life and possible cause problems to your amp…….As for used tube dealers on this site, it’s a minefield as bad or worse than used car salesmen. I wish I kept notes as I’ve been blocked by a couple of them once I bought that heath TT1 tester and called them on their BS……I’m 63 and gigs are few and far between so it’s time to let go of some gear. So get yourself a couple of adapters first for $20 and then get some of these and you will most likely come back for some more pairs to put away….Also, some of the loctal bases have extra unused pins so not to worry…..Any issues i’ll make it right.
